Spine
Spine surgery refers to a range of medical procedures performed to treat conditions affecting the spine, which includes the vertebrae, discs, spinal cord, and nerves. Spine surgery is typically considered when non-surgical treatments have not provided adequate relief from pain or functional limitations caused by spinal disorders. There are various types of spine surgeries, each targeting specific spinal issues.
Types of Spine Surgery:
Discectomy:
This procedure involves the removal of a portion of a herniated or damaged spinal disc that is pressing on a nerve root or the spinal cord.
Laminectomy:
Also known as decompression surgery, a laminectomy involves removing a portion of the vertebral bone called the lamina to relieve pressure on the spinal cord and nerves.
